As Hal Rand prepares to adopt Jimmy Olsen, Superman interrupts with proof that Jimmy’s father, Mark Olsen, is alive in the Yucatan. They fly to a hidden valley where Mark, adorned with Gold Kryptonite, is worshipped as the Mayan deity Kukulkan in a rebuilt pyramid. The Gold Kryptonite forces Superman to retreat, leaving Jimmy and Hal to persuade Mark. When the Mayans resist, Superman returns, posing as another deity to command Mark’s release and the discarding of the Kryptonite jewelry. He safely escorts Jimmy, Mark, and Hal back to America.
