Marvel Tales Vol 2 #269 – Spider-Man vs. Red Ghost’s Super-Apes!
Marvel Tales Vol 2 #269 (reprinting Amazing Spider-Man #255), by Tom DeFalco with Ron Lim’s cover art, is a 1984 adventure. Black Fox, a cat burglar, breaks into a luxury apartment but is caught by Red Ghost and his Super-Apes. Red Ghost, hiding to complete his Cosmicizer, forces Black Fox to steal components. Meanwhile, Peter Parker, washing his eerie black suit, sleeps all day, missing calls to Aunt May, who’s upset with him. Nathan Lubensky scolds Peter over the phone. Web-slinging to clear his head, Spider-Man spots Black Fox and the Super-Apes robbing a jewelry store. Black Fox escapes with a flash-bang, but Spider-Man intervenes, learning of Red Ghost’s plan. Spidey confronts Red Ghost, tricking the Super-Apes into destroying the Cosmicizer. Red Ghost escapes, and Black Fox retires with the jewels. Elsewhere, an unknown figure destroys Spider-Man’s tracer on Hobgoblin’s battle van, vowing to kill him.
