HOW VCK WAS BORN

Growing up in San Diego, California, my childhood was filled with the vibrant colors and boundless imagination of comic books. From the moment I cracked open my first issue, I was captivated—first by the stunning artwork, then by the fantastical, sometimes outlandish stories that brought those pages to life. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s *Amazing Spider-Man* became my north star, its panels sparking a lifelong love for the comic book art form. I have fond memories of my dad driving me across San Diego County in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, hunting for hidden gems in comic shops. Even as a kid, when the internet was just taking shape with Amazon and eBay, I dreamed of a better way—a streamlined, joyful experience where fans could easily discover comics by their favorite characters or creators, no matter how well-known or obscure.

Life led me to a career in law, but my passion for comics, movies, and pop culture never wavered. Decades later, after moving to Las Vegas in 2024, I stumbled across a YouTube series by Emmitt from Haven For Heroes in New York. His deep dive into the world of comic store ownership—and his emphasis on the importance of comic shops in sustaining the hobby—lit a fire in me. I didn’t want to just be a collector anymore; I wanted to be an active part of this vibrant community. And so, Vegas Comic Kingdom (VCK) was born.

As a one-man army, I run VCK with a lean operation, keeping overhead low by storing inventory in a climate-controlled unit near the post office, ensuring same-day shipping. This allows me to offer the lowest prices possible, so your budget goes toward the books you love, not extra costs. My vision was to create a comic shopping experience that’s fun, accessible, and efficient—where you can search by beloved characters, from Spider-Man to the most niche heroes, or by creators, from all-star cover artists to up-and-coming inkers. I’ll be honest: building a website, sourcing and pricing inventory, fulfilling orders, and staying on top of the latest releases is no small feat. But every moment is worth it to bring that vision to life.

Vegas Comic Kingdom is my love letter to the comic community, built from the heart of a lifelong fan who wants to make comic collecting as exciting and rewarding as it was for that kid riding around San Diego, dreaming of heroes.
